I revisited it yesterday.
The now-famous Egyptian Building in Chino Hills is empty, iconic, and frozen in time. Its façade recreates the divine beauty of Abu Simbel, but walk around it, and something feels… off.
This place was built for a restaurant and a gathering space. But years have passed. The statues are weathering. The doors have never opened. Now, Feng Shui reveals why.
Two Entrances. Two Roads That Charge.
I noticed both entrances are hit by T-junctions, roads flowing fast and hard, stopping short at the door. This is Sha Qi, poison arrow energy, which strikes rather than nurtures. It doesn’t gather or circulate. It pierces and rushes.
The main entrance is worse. It opens directly at 135° Southeast, a Death and Emptiness (DE) line. That alone is enough to paralyze Qi movement. While DE lines are auspicious for temples or spiritual sites that thrive on subtle transitions between realms, restaurants differ. They need grounded, stable Earth Qi. Warmth. Nourishment. Not void.
And Yet the Arrow Doesn’t Strike
Interestingly, the surrounding buildings, which seem to form a giant arrow-shaped landform, do not point directly at the Egyptian Building.
And that’s precisely the issue.
This building isn’t under attack; it’s isolated. Out of flow. Out of formation. That “arrow” formation sends energy elsewhere. Qi collects and moves away, bypassing the structure entirely. This isn’t a kill shot; it’s abandonment. The Egyptian Building sits beside the current, not in it.
In Feng Shui terms, it’s like building a beautiful boat and leaving it on dry land.
Built on Fire. Sitting in the Void.
Take one more look at the aerial view. The landform is unmistakably triangular, a Li trigram, pure Fire element. Fire is active, bright, and expressive, wonderful when supported. But here, fire sits on a DE line, fueled by road Qi that doesn’t stay. It flares up… then disappears, a recipe for instability.
The surrounding freeway only amplifies this, fast, rushing metal Qi. Movement with no anchor.
So, Is It Cursed?
I wouldn’t say cursed, but definitely forgotten by the Qi.
The Xuan Kong Da Gua classics describe DE lines as portals where Qi becomes directionless. Not evil, just disoriented. Imagine someone shouting instructions in a hallway with no walls. It just echoes.
This building was designed with reverence and sculpted with precision. But the energetic alignment wasn’t honored, resulting in a space caught in limbo, not dead but not fully alive.
But It Can Be Fixed.
The good news? It’s not irreversible. The door must be tilted. The internal flow was reshaped. The Fire landform can be cooled and anchored with Earth. Shielding, landscape corrections, maybe even symbolic guardians. The Qi isn’t against this place, it just doesn’t know how to enter.
